Do you experience any of the following?
· You feel isolated and worry all the time
· You are unable to truly express your feelings and worries
· You have continuous uncontrollable negative thinking
· You stopped going out because the anxiety and panic attacks could happen at anytime
If you said yes to any of these then it’s likely you’re suffering from negativity, self-doubt, anxiety and worry that your mind will sabotage any goals you have in life. As stress and anxiety builds, and your emotions start to take control, your risk for getting sick, run-down, loss of sleep, and massive overwhelm will only get worse.
Stress in small amounts is normal part of everyone’s life. But, when stress become chronic and our response to stress (hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA)) becomes dysregulated, we consider “Adrenal Fatigue”. Unfortunately, many of us are already suffering from Adrenal Fatigue, which is chronic fatigue issues from adrenal glands that are acting abnormally and either is overproducing cortisol, producing it at the wrong times, or not producing enough for the bodies’ requirements.
“Adrenal Fatigue” is coming from a brain that has been overwhelmed and mitochondria (cell organelle that produce energy) that are under-functioning. The brain’s amygdala and limbic system, receiving input from all parts of the body as well as the external environment, gets stuck in the “on” mode keeping the body in fight or flight, sending dysfunctional signals to the adrenal glands. The adrenal glands pour out cortisol to keep up with the adrenaline being dumped at the beginning, but over time the level of cortisol being made starts to decrease.
Cortisol is needed as an anti-inflammatory, to regulate blood sugar, and to promote healing and manage pain. If its production is dysregulated it can affect insulin and all sex and thyroid hormones, prolonging inflammation, causing weight gain, disrupting menstrual cycles and libido, triggering depression, and intensifying fatigue.
Some causes of adrenal dysfunction include:
Sleep disturbances.
Blood sugar dysregulation
Impaired Gut Health
Chronic stressors
Pain
Inflammation
Infections
Toxins
