Hello! Let me introduce myself properly...
If there’s one thing I want you to know about working with me, it’s that you are heard!
So often, I see people who have been left disappointed or disheartened by the results of conventional treatments, simply because other practitioners have not taken the time to truly listen.
So that’s always where I start - by paying close attention to the challenges you’re facing, and identifying the underlying factors that could be causing these issues. It’s only when we can get to the real cause, that we can put in place a wellness plan that truly supports your body in healing.
Many people will come to me for support for an existing medical condition. Others are not yet aware of what may be causing them discomfort, pain or challenges. You may be looking for natural support alongside conventional treatment, alternatives to conventional medicine or for support and advice beyond what you may be offered by other practitioners. While I do believe that ‘nature knows best’, there is still a place for conventional medicine alongside natural therapies, so long as it’s working to heal, not just cover up, symptoms of ill-health.
I’ve seen first hand how conventional medicine is often too easily relied upon to masque symptoms or pain. I witnessed my parents suffer with chronic conditions most of their life, using daily pharmaceuticals which came with their own side effects. My son has also faced his own health challenges. Yet I saw how natural therapies supported him in transforming from an unhappy, anxious, and allergy-prone child to a happy, healthy, determined and focused young man.
I myself, have suffered in the past from anxieties, depression, digestive issues, candida overgrowth, hypothyroidism that conventional medicine could not resolve. Natural therapies including naturopathy, herbal medicine, nutrition, acupuncture, body talk, and mindfulness helped me restore my health and support on going well-being.
Watching this change is what inspired me to start my own journey with naturopathy. I wanted to help other families achieve similar transformations so that they can all get the best out of life. So, my love with natural health started when I realised I need to change my job and do something that I am passionate about. I decided to make a significant career shift from environmental science to natural health. I enjoyed protecting and supporting our environment but always felt that there is something more that I am here to do, that I can help with..
I completed a Bachelor in Naturopathy and Herbal Medicine and Diploma in Nutrition from Wellpark College.
Seeing my own family happy, healthy, performing better, sleeping better and enjoying better relationships motivates me to continuously learn, research, ask questions and challenge ideas so that I can educate others around a natural approach to managing their health. I’m most passionate about children’s health and well-being, as well as mothers and mothers-to-be, and helping them overcome challenges with up to date research combined with naturopathic wisdom, carefully selected herbal medicine, and practitioner’s only supplements.
I know that the therapeutic relationship between myself and my clients has a huge impact on their recovery. I believe that my genuine empathy creates a safe space where you can be open, listen intuitively to yourself, and articulate your challenges honestly. I bring with me a wealth of life and career experience that allows me to connect with a variety of people and situations.
I’m determined to make an impact on the well-being of more families, and I’d love to discuss how I may be able to help you.
What is Naturopathy and Herbal Medicine?
Those 6 principles are followed throughout your health journey with me. Starting from our first meeting and sharing your story, developing your individualised treatment plan, and supporting You to make changes in your own pace towards your optimal health.
Naturopathic therapeutic treatment includes nutritional and lifestyle recommendations, herbal formulas, and practitioner only nutritional supplements and products. Practitioners only products are developed and backed up with scientific research, in order to provide maximal absorption and efficacy.
Herbal Medicine is the oldest form of medicine and has been practiced by many cultures going back 60, 000 years ago. Herbs produce chemicals (phytoconstituents) to defend from insects, diseases and environment and we can use these chemicals to support health. Herbal medicine is sourced from medicinal plants and could be used in food, drink, bath, skin or specially prescribed herbal tincture by herbalist. Many pharmaceutical medications were derived from plant compounds (Aspirin from Willow and Birch; Quinine from Cinchona Calisaya, Morphine from Opium poppy, Digoxin from Foxglove, etc). However, during the process of isolation of only one herbal compound we losing the benefit from rest of constituents in that herb. Our bodies recognise whole herb and know how to use for correcting and supporting biochemical pathways. Our bodies often cannot utilise and often reject (side effects) individual constituents produced in the chemical laboratories.
Naturopathy is natural health care that combines naturopathic wisdom and evidence based science for prevention and treatment of chronic and acute health problems.
Naturopath will look systemically through body functions right to cellular levels and biochemical pathways assisted with latest scientific research, in order to discover root cause of your health imbalance.
The naturopathic philosophy is based on healing power of nature, body’s innate ability to heal itself and supports the Vital Force that guides all living things towards growth and healing. Everything in the World is made of four elements and their interactions. These are your Spirit, Mind, Body, and Heart and You are manifested through these four elements. By restoring balance of those four elements You will get back to who You really are, and achieve optimal health.
Medicine is built on six foundational principles:
First, Do No Harm
The Healing Power of Nature
Identify and Treat the Cause
Doctor as a Teacher
Treat a Whole Person
